Sigma Alpha/ Alpha Gamma Rho Leadership Conference
On February 20th through the 21st, we had seven sisters attend the annual regional leadership conference. Our sisters traveled to were they attended many break out sessions such as; . Since being back at each meeting each group of two have told the rest of us three things that they learned from this conference.
4-H Family Day
On February 14th from 9-12, 11 Sigma Alpha girls participated in 4-H Family Day at the Lancaster Youth and Ag Center. We had first heard about this from one of our sisters Emma Heser, who then directed me to Jodi McDermott who was on the planning committee for this event. We decided it was only fitting for our girls to set up a Valentine making station. As a group we also decided to have coloring sheets for some of the younger kids. Originally we were supposed to be a fill in station for the children going in between activities, but since there was an overflow of children signed up for the events, we wound up being a primary station as well. We had a great turn out of kids, and had a lot of fun helping them make their crafts. At the end of the event there was a lunch served and about half of our girls helped serve the lunch as well because they did not have anyone to help serve. At the event, we had talked about participating in this every year and it was also brought up at meeting to discuss. We had a lot of fun helping out the community at this event and look forward to it next year!
Spring Recruitment (A League Of Our Own)
This Spring we have had a great turn out of Potential girls.
Our process started with Smoothie Bar on February 2nd. We met after meeting in Russell where we made four different kinds of smoothies and sat around and the new girls asked questions and got to know some of the girls. The second event was the Spring Involvement Fair. This girls came and can ask questions or talk to a few girls. The next event was Mocktails with Farmhouse. Which we had a great turnout once again. Cupcake making and decorating was just decorating contest and Ariel Hellenbrand won by making a pig on her cupcake. Everyone made a cupcake that looked so cool and good to eat. Craft night we made Valentines and listened to music. The girls had fun with glitter, stickers, and getting to know one another and the new recruits. Linedancing with AGR was a huge blast. In Dubuque fairgrounds every Wednesday they have linedancing and our brothers and sisters went to have a great time to get to know each other. Finally, Spa Night we gave each other masks and painted nails and had a entertaining time. |
